About the Event

Join us at a live event at the Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester, to celebrate the Mixtape Memories project.

This event will include screenings of the music videos, talks and live poetry from the South Asian participants involved in the project.

All welcome! Refreshments will be available.

Mixtape memories is part of a larger five-year project titled Migrant Memory and the Postcolonial Imagination which uses creative, arts-based approaches alongside in-depth interviewing to understand how community identities are produced and expressed by South Asian people in the UK through processes of remembering Partition, migration and resettlement.

Facilitated by Leicester artist - Mr Shay, participants explored their creativity through sampling sounds from their home environment, learning music production skills, writing original lyrics and performing. The participants have made two wonderful music tracks and starred in their own video.

The event will also be live streamed via YouTube via @Migrant Memory and the Post-Colonial Imagination

In partnership with Inspirate and Charnwood Arts.
