Stress and anxiety play an increasing role in the lives of many. Work and family pressures spill over all aspects of everyday living and huge economic, societal and political upheavals have caused historic levels of poor mental and physical health around the world.

Kajal Nisha Patel talks to us about stress and the prevalence of autoimmune disease. She speaks openly about her anxiety and how she uses yoga and ayurveda to maintain balance within this precarious moment of social, political and economic change.

Artist & Partners

Practising since 2013, Kajal acquired her teacher training qualification in Kerala, India in 2017. She embraces a simple practice, often blending Hatha and Ashtanga postural styles.

Kajal lives and works between the UK and India, often collaborating with women and young people to encourage personal transformation and healing through visual art and storytelling projects. Having experienced the benefits of a regular practice herself, Kajal encourages yoga, art and aspects of ayurveda to promote mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. She regularly shares tips and advice through her Instagram social media account @nilu.yoga and is currently running online yoga sessions for all levels.
