Lagaan is a nostalgic and classic Bollywood film, loved by audiences across generations.
Set in 1893, in a small village of then colonised India, villagers are grappling with famine, drought and the crushing burden of high taxes known as Lagaan.
The villagers are challenged by an arrogant British Indian Army officer to a game of cricket. The stake? Their taxes.
The story unfolds as the villagers take on the challenge of learning cricket, a journey of struggle, resilience, determination and community.
Director: Ashutosh Gowariker
