Artists
Roopa Panesar remains firmly within the Hindustani classical idiom, but brings a distinctive style to sitar performance. Born in Leicester, she trained under UK-based maestro Dharambir Singh MBE. Roopa has toured Europe and the US, as well as numerous BBC appearances, collaborating with Talvin Singh and the Belgian Symphony Orchestra.
Upneet Singh son of Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE, has had the privilege to be trained under the tutelage of the late Pandit Sharda Sahai Ji and now Sanju Sahai Ji, the 6th generation and torchbearer of the Benares gharana. The versatile yet powerful style of the Benares gharana combined with a rich musical upbringing enhances his ability to accompany many genres with musicality and flair. Upneet has performed at many prestigious venues and festivals such as Darbar music festival, BBC Womad festival, BBC Radio and Musicport festival to name just a few.
