About Rahul Somia

The motivation of the night derived from myself performing as a stand-up comedian since my second year of university and finding it difficult to have a platform for my voice as a British Asian. I have performed at a lot of gigs where the vast majority of the audience were white and it was frustrating as I felt I didn’t have the best gig because the audience were unable to relate due to the cultural barrier. But I felt there is a place for my comedy, and other acts from ethnic minorities have shared similar experiences with me, so I feel there is a place for others too. I feel Leicester is the perfect place to host a night like this as multiculturalism is what makes this city great so a night like this could thrive.
